Gurpreet Singh Johal
Director SJK Solicitors
Gurpreet Singh Johal is the firm’s Director. Having completed his Law Degree at the University of Abertay, Dundee, and his Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. On completion of his traineeship, he has been involved in Immigration and Asylum since 2012, volunteering with the Ethnic Minorities Law Centre and also at Drumchapel Citizens Advice Bureau.
Gurpreet began his training with an Immigration firm in Glasgow as well as enhancing his experience in the areas of Criminal and Civil law within a busy court firm. Since completing his traineeship, Gurpreet has further developed his experience and skills in Immigration and Asylum work with another legal firm within the Glasgow area. Prior to setting up SJK Solicitors, Gurpreet headed the Immigration & Asylum department as an Associate, with an established firm.
Gurpreet regularly appears within the Immigration and Asylum Tribunal in Glasgow. As well as this, he regularly advises detainees in Dungavel IRC and assists detainees of all nationalities. Gurpreet has considerable experience in providing advice to prisoners in prisons across Scotland, especially those who have been served with liability to deportations notices or deportation orders. Gurpreet can offer assistance with Sponsor licenses, Tier 1 Entrepreneur applications, and Tier 2 General applications. He carries a breadth of experience in all aspects of immigration and asylum law and regularly instructs Senior and Junior Counsel in Judicial Review matters.
Gurpreet has extensive experience and understands the client’s needs and is able to provide out-of-the-box immigration advice without inconveniencing the individual.
Outside of law, Gurpreet is actively involved within the Sikh Community in Glasgow and within the local Gurdwaras. He speaks fluent Punjabi, Urdu, and Hindi.
